swag update

i was excited super-stylish sjp was sporting pearls at sundance (the length of the ones in my brand new line)!
as i sit here reeling from the hundred-plus emails in my inbox this morning, sipping green tea and nibbling on some eco chocolate from a sundance gift bag, i see that quite a number of people have emailed about who did what and apparently more importantly, who got what at sundance. and did you know paris hilton was seen inner tubing down main street in sergio rossi's? it's still way too early in the morning for me to process some of this.
maybe it's my budhist leanings, judeo-christian upbringing, or just plain guilt, but talking about all the "swag" that was given to me during sundance makes me a bit uncomfortable. truthfully, i tried to only take things i intended on writing about in my column in affluent. and viewed with a light heart, the whole thing was pretty fun. best of all, i met one of my beauty icons, ole henriksen, (i will be writing much more about him in the coming days) whose gorgeous treatment spa on sunset strip was always one of my favorite destinations long before i started writing about beauty. ole is lovely in person and invited me to stop by his lounge. having the opportunity to talk to him at length about some nagging beauty questions i've had as a journalist as well as getting a consultation from a master--to me it was better than hanging out with a rock star (although there were lots of rumors flying of bono sightings--and well, that would've been nice!)

i usually shy away from covering celebs just because there are so many people who do it better--you really have to love that sort of thing to write about it day in and day out. having lived in la 14 years working in film, then fashion, i've seen enough to be over the thrill, but i've always had a soft spot for sjp and her hubby. matthew once came by a trunk sale i was doing and told me how pretty all my stuff was but in the sweetest way told me he'd be afraid to buy his wife anything (that was in the hay day of patricia field styling sjp to great acclaim). they seem to be genuinely nice people, so for all you sjp fans, here's the scoop:
on saturday sarah jessica parker (in for her premiere of smart people) stopped in at fred segal. it was the only house she hit and she was in for 20 minutes and out.

she loved the spyder royalty jacket ($750) and wanted it immediately. she told ken loo, who handles press for spyder that "it was all about spyder at my house this christmas. that is all the kids wanted--they love to ski."

sjp also took two pairs of love from australia boots, including the must have item of sundance, the corset boot ($330).

jessica alba also swooped in. she snagged a $300 spyder charm vest (my personal fav) and said she would be wearing it on an upcoming trip to new york. cash warren grabbed a vicous men's jacket ($200). while he was trying it on jessica spotted a matching vicous jacket in pink and wanted it.

jessica also walked in to fred segal wearing love from australia black nomad ($330) boots and snagged another two pairs in sand and gray as well as baby booties for her upcoming child.

maria bellow picked up an spyder onyx jacket ($600), charm vest ($300), and lfa nomad boots ($330).
paris hilton came direct from the ski lift and snagged a spyder charm vest ($300), a spyder pink vicious jacket (to match her outfit of pink rimmed sunglasses and snow cap), and vixens, party nomads, and tibetan gypsy boots from lfa.
andie macdowell picked up a spyder charm vest ($300) and lfa tibetian gypsy ($380) boot in chocolate.

angelica houston snagged a royalty jacket ($750) and lfa corset boot ($330).
there you go readers, a little taste of sundance madness. i'm celebed out for now but will be back soon with more on some cool designs i promise you'll want to know more about.
